Nigerian boxers dominated the boxing event at the African Games 2023 on Friday, winning a total number of eight gold medals.
10 Nigerian boxers made it to the final in different categories with only two having to settle for silver.
Nigeria registered 11 boxes at the 13th African Games and all of them went home with medals.
Adams Olaore won a gold medal in the men’s 92+kg, with Jacinta Umunnakwe (women’s 81kg), Blessing Orakwe (women’s 70kg) and Cynthia Ogunsemilore (women’s 60kg) also going home as winners in their different categories.
The quartet of Patricia Mbata (women’s 75kg ), Omole Dolapo (men’s 57kg) and Joy Nene Ojo (women’s 54kg) also won gold medals.
Shukurat Kareem (women’s 54kg) and Zainab Adeshina (women’s 50kg) went home with silver.
